                                                          Arise, Awake and Realise

Everybody in this world is in search of pleasure. Pleasure is the driving force of all activities . The mad  race for pleasure goes on for  the whole life and man ultimately  becomes tired of it.   Pleasure most of the time is elusive. Instead, man comes across sorrow many a time. No body wants sorrow in his/her life but he/she is helpless due to ignorance. Lord Buddha said that there is dukha (suffering) in life. This does not mean that man is pawn in hands of destiny to suffer in his life. Rather, he is maker of his destiny. He is his own Master..

Sant Kabir makes friendship with his dukha knowing its benefits in disguise. In one of verse Kabir says:

Sukh khojan ko nikla,   aage miliya dukha
Ja sukh tu ghar apna, bhalo hamaro dukha.

Dukha is loved by Kabir as it drives man towards God. When the going in this world is smooth, man seldom remembers God.The most rare human birth is lost in acquisition of trifles. Therefore, saints in all ages have called human being to arise, awake and realise the truth.

Saints of all ages have stressed purification of mind for the realisation of truth. We use various soaps for cleaning body. A dirty body invites germs and gives stench. Mind too, needs   cleaning lest it attracts vices like ill-will, negative thoughts etc. Saints of Nirguna School have emphasised sumiran of  Holy Name. Sabad (Holy Name) is the internal soap for cleaning chit (mind). Mindfulness (surati) to Nam   purifies the mind. The great Buddha has given the technique of  vipasana for purification of mind. When mind becomes tranqil and thoughts cease to appear on the surface of mind, wisdom descends.

Mind is very powerful and difficult to tame. However, with regular practice, control over mind can be achieved. The journey of life with uncontrolled mind is similar to riding a vehicle driven by a drunken driver. One  must  lead a moral life to prepare the ground for purification of mind. The external world is the extension of the mind. If mind is at peace, the whole creation will appear pleasant and full of life.To the tormented mind the same world becomes unworthy of living. Kingdom of God lies within  us and let us discover it.

The life is a play of gambling with Kal.Only those who are with Nam win the game.Rest loose it to Kal. So arise, awake and realise. Human birth is rare.
